Densified and Beveled Grip Edges (U.S. Patent # 5851632)
A problem with conventional grip tape is that the side edge of the tape is weak or flimsy such that during usage the side has a tendency to roll up. Any such roll up of the side of the grip tape interferes with the grip and hand movement on the handle. Our invention is to densify and skive the edges of the grip tape. The grip tape is spiral wrapped around a handle such that the right desified side overlies the top of the left desified portion of the previous turn. The overlapping area is thinner than the remainder of the grip and leads to increase traction and better gripping. The grip with densified and skived edges has enhanced durability, better control and maneuverability.
